FAQs

Do I need to be fit to start CrossFit?

No. CrossFit gets you fit.

I don’t have any experience with gymnastics or weightlifting. Can I do CrossFit?

Yes. Our coaches work closely with all athletes to ensure you learn the mechanics of all movements.

What if I can’t do some of the movements?

Our coaches give modifications and scaling options to all athletes.

I’m bored of my training. Should l give CrossFit a go?

Yes. CrossFit is constantly varied meaning you will never be bored and consistently progressing.

What should I expect from my first class?

Book in for your first class via our website or by giving Thomas a call.

Arrive a little early to meet your coach and other members.

The class will begin on time and will include:

  • A whiteboard brief - At the start of class, the group will circle around our TV. The coach will talk through the workout, the movements within it, the intended stimulus — the purpose of the workout and what level of intensity it’s designed to elicit — and ideas for scaling.

Don’t worry if you don’t understand the movements listed on the board. The coach will walk you through the movements after the whiteboard brief. Your first class will focus on learning the movement technique, using a PVC pipe or very light barbell for any barbell movements and scaling other movements to your current fitness level and ability.

  • Warm-up — The coach will lead the class through a warm-up to prepare for the workout.

  • Skill practice —The coach will lead the class through skill practice, typically related to the movements that appear later in the workout.

  • Workout prep — Each person will get out the equipment necessary to do the workout, such as a barbell or rowing machine.

  • Workout — The coach starts the clock and everyone does the workout together.

  • Cleanup — After the workout is over, athletes give each other fist bumps and high-fives, wipe down and put away their equipment.

  • Cool down — Everyone moves through some streches to assist recovery.

How does “open gym” work?

All unlimited members will be issued a unique access code upon signing up. This code will give members access into the front gate and entry door.

Attending 4-5 CrossFit classes should be members priority. In addition, members may access the gym between 4am - 11am daily, to complete addition accessory work, conditioning and/or individualised programming. Class programming is only permitted during coached classes.

Can casual visitors access open gym?

No. Casual visitors are very welcome during staffed hours and at coached classes.
